IIASA and its current NMOs coordinate a campaign to increase IIASA membership, both to expand the outlook and impact of IIASA's research and to increase members' opportunities for sustained international cooperation. Moreover, IIASA strives to increase off-site collaboration with NMO scientists through the creation of institutional networks and innovative visiting scholar arrangements.

Like organizations in other competitive markets, IIASA must remain sensitive to changes in the needs of its customers – always ready to retool and retrain to produce a better and more desirable product, without jeopardizing the free-natured spirit of true science.
