Forest Sector Impacts in Emerging Economies & International Governance

The aim of the Forest Sector Impacts theme is to gain a better understanding of the impacts of emerging economies on the global forest sector (particularly in China, India, Brazil, Congo Basin and the Koreas) and how these developments will influence the global forest sector. Work is also being carried out on total global forest sector development per se, to put the development of the Chinese and Indian forest sectors into perspective.

The key challenges of this theme are to:
1. Understand the development paths of the forest resources and the forest sectors in key emerging economies;
2. Interpret these developments into overall global forest sector developments; and
3. Identify the implications and policies of the global forest sector development.
