8th Workshop on the
Model Intercomparison Study
MICS Asia

January 18 – 19, 2006
at
IIASA, Laxenburg, Austria

In order to have a common understanding of model performance and uncertainties in Asia, a model intercomparison study on long-range transport and deposition of sulfur, called MICS-Asia, has been carried out since 1998.

The MICS-Asia Phase II activities have started since 2003, based on the discussion at the 5th Workshop in January 2003. The Phase II aims at the transport and deposition of sulfur, nitrogen compounds, ozone and aerosols in East Asia. So far eight modeling groups have submitted their model results in line with the specifics updated at the 7th Workshop held in February 2005 (http://www.adorc.gr.jp/adorc/mics.html).

The 8th Workshop discussed the reviews on activities up to the present and the next activities.
