Communications Officer Communications - Communications and External Relations Department
Rachel Potter joined IIASA in July 2017. She is currently a communications officer in the Communications and External Relations Department. In her role, she develops and delivers a range of communications activities and content for IIASA communications channels to raise awareness and foster understanding of IIASA research. This includes media, website, publications, and social media. Potter leads social media activities for the institute and co-ordinates communications training.
Prior to joining IIASA, she gained over 15 years of communication and marketing experience leading a range of projects and campaigns promoting public health services across the north of England and in Brussels, Belgium. She was a trainer for the British Arts Council, a facilitator for the BBC, and has worked in diverse international settings including Australia, East Timor, Hong Kong, and Thailand. Several of the communication projects she developed have won awards, including the UK General Practice Awards and the Bett Award for Innovation, and a film she co-wrote and produced for SBS Australia was selected for inclusion in the Berlin Ethnic Film Festival.
Potter has a BA in Politics/History from the University of Western Australia and a postgraduate degree in communications from the University of Technology Sydney, Australia.
