Karina Reiter joined IIASA as a researcher in January 2020 and is currently associated with the Systemic Risk and Resilience Research Group of the Advancing Systems Analysis Program. She has worked on the MacroMode project with the goal of developing policy-relevant risk management options to decrease indirect risks from extreme flood events. She is currently contributing to the MYRIAD-EU project, which aims to enhance risk assessment and management by developing a unified framework for multi-hazard, multi-sector, and systemic risk management. She is mainly involved in the stakeholder process and qualitative research within the project.
She holds an MSc in conservation biology and biodiversity management and an MA in Anglophone literature and cultures from the University of Vienna, Austria. She also studied transcultural communication. Her research interests are manifold, but currently geared toward the social effects of natural disasters.
