Research Scholar Sustainable Service Systems Research Group - Energy, Climate, and Environment Program
Sibel Eker is a research scholar with the IIASA Energy, Climate, and Environment (ECE) Program. Her work brings systems thinking and uncertainty focus to policy and decision-making problems with model-based approaches and analytics. Synthesizing the experience of various modeling tools and areas, such as natural resources, energy, housing and life-style change, Dr. Eker works towards making quantitative models more useful especially in participatory settings.
Dr. Eker obtained her PhD degree in 2016, from Delft University of Technology, with a focus on dealing with uncertainties in the Dutch natural gas sector. Prior to joining IIASA, she worked at University College London on integrated decision making in housing, energy and well being; and at Delft University of Technology on the resilience of the transport network in Bangladesh.
