Yasuko Kameyama, 1995 YSSP

Prof. Dr. Yasuko Kameyama gave a keynote lecture at the YSSP 40th Anniversary Event entitled "From Kyoto to Paris: Evolution of Climate Governance and Research."

Yasuko Kameyama, 1995 YSSP

Deputy Director, Center for Social and Environmental Systems Research, National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES), Tsukuba, Japan

Prof. Dr. Kameyama graduated from the University of Tokyo in 1990 and has been a researcher at NIES since 1992. Over the last 25 years she’s been conducting research on international negotiations and institutions concerning climate change, by utilising theories and methodologies of international relations. Her studies focus on policies towards creation of sustainable society, indicators for sustainable development and international cooperation related to climate change. She’s been a visiting researcher at the University of Maryland in 1999-2000 and visiting professor at the Graduate School of the University of Tokyo since 2006.

Regarding her YSSP experience, she states, "The YSSP was a wonderful experience for me, because the IIASA was the core of a network of academic experts working on global issues related to sustainability.  Human networking is the starting point of any career."
