Abstract

The benefits of digital technology for the sustainable development goals (SDGs) is relatively well-integrated into the 2030 Agenda. It also corresponds to the SDG 9 on industry, innovation and infrastructure. Digitalization can contribute to implementation of various goals through creation of digital governance, digital market or digital society, among others. Social media and various Internet information tools are important drivers of digitalization. Government agencies, non-governmental organizations and other stakeholders frequently use social media in case of breaking news such as natural hazards or other disruptive events which frighten security of modern society. However, together with valid information also misinformation is frequently transmitted in social media even during crisis and emergency management. Misinformation is a serious threat which comes together with digitalization and which devaluates the voices of public and private institutions and experts.

Digital tools can contribute greatly to learning, increased awareness and sharing of information about various issues as well as to maintain equilibrium between social cohesion and respect for diversity as a foundation for democratic values and heterogeneous societies in terms of origins, culture, ethnicity and religion. This presentation describes two digitalization tools.
