The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) co-host the 2019 OSCE Asian Conference to look into security risks in the digital era, impact of ICT in shaping international relations, protection of critical infrastructure against cyber-attacks, role of regional organizations in promoting stability in the use of ICT, strengthening co-operation on addressing security aspects of the digital economy, widening access to digital technologies and enabling equal opportunities, and other topical issues.
IIASA Research Scholar from Advanced Systems Analysis Program Nadejda Komendantova was invited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and Slovak 2019 OSCE Chairmanship to deliver a keynote speech at the session on “The digital economy as a driver for promoting co-operation, security and growth”. She will address the audience with a presentation on the role of digital transformation and its contribution to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
At the panel Nadejda Komendantova will join Ambassador Vuk Žugić, Co-ordinator of the OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities; Ambassador Hinrich Thoelken, Special Representative for International Digitalisation Policy and Digital Transformation at the German Federal Foreign Office; Kazuto Suzuki, Professor at Graduate School of Public Policy of Hokkaido University, and other speakers.
The Conference will gather representatives of the OSCE participating States, the OSCE executive structures, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, as well as delegates of international organizations and institutions, including the United Nations, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), Council of Europe (CoE), Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC), Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Central European Initiative (CEI), Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), and Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
