The purpose of this high-level event is to strengthen the capacity of scientists and policy makers to take advantage of scientific advice to improve the design of public policies and decision making in all areas of government.

The workshop, which is supported by the US and UK Embassies, will include conferences by invited experts in different areas of science advice to government, as well as participatory group discussions of representative case studies.

This symposium forms part of an international advisory process leading to the creation of the country’s first Ministry of Science and Technology.

IIASA will be represented by Dr. Jan Marco Müller, who will deliver two presentations on the value of having a scientific advice system in place, and the contribution of human sciences to science advice.
