SA-YSSP 2012-13 Program Information

The first SA-YSSP took place from 1 December 2012 to 28 February 2013. Participants spent 3 months living and working together in Bloemfontein, South Africa.

Participants in the SA-YSSP conduct research at the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein, South Africa.

The SA-YSSP is administered by staff at the South African National Research Foundation, the South Africa Department of Science and Technology, and the University of the Free State in Bloemfontfontein, South Africa, in collaboration with IIASA.

  • Integration of microgrids into scenarios for providing universal electricity access
  • Issues in energy poverty
  • Changing human capital in South Africa: educating the disengaged population and their children
  • Optimal economic growth under environmental constraints
