Anders Lunnan was professor at the School of Economics and Business at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) from 1991 until 2016.He is now professor emeritus. As an emeritus he continues with some of his research and teaching activities. From August 2010 until August 2011, he spent his sabbatical at IIASA and now collaborates as a senior guest researcher with the Ecosystems Services and Management Program (ESM).
Dr. Lunnan holds a PhD in forest economics from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences and has had many administrative positions within the university. In 1985, he was a visiting scholar at the Technical University of Vienna and the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU), Vienna. From 1996 to 1997, he was visiting professor at the University of Minnesota, working on projects related to rural economic development. In 2005, he started an MSc program on Innovation and Entrepreneurship and managed the program (in cooperation with University of Oslo, Boston University and Rice University), until 2015. Dr. Lunnan has also been active in the IEA Bioenergy Agreement and been chair of the Association of Nordic Agricultural Economists.
From 2000 until 2012, he held a part time position at the Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research (Nibio). His research involves innovation and entrepreneurship research, competitiveness of bioenergy systems, forest policy analysis, land use issues and rural economic development issues. He has been active in projects and networks financed by EU and been initiating and leading several research projects.
At IIASA, Dr. Lunnan is involved in projects concerning forest certification, forest economics and policy.
