Research Scholar Integrated Biosphere Futures Research Group - Biodiversity and Natural Resources Program
Alexey Smirnov was a participant in the 2004 Young Scientists Summer Program. In 2005 he returned to IIASA to work on joint projects with IIASA's Dynamic Systems (DYN) Program and Greenhouse Gas Initiative (GGI). In 2006 he joined the Forestry Program (now Ecosystems Services and Management Program) as a Research Scholar.
Mr. Smirnov graduated in mathematics from the Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics, Moscow State University in 1998. In 2001 he completed his postgraduate studies. His research fields are optimal control theory, optimization, numerical methods of optimal control, and optimization software development. Currently he holds the position of Assistant Professor at the Optimal Control Department at the Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics at MSU (since 2001).
