04 May 2018 - 05 May 2018
Stuttgart, Germany
Health, quality of life and pension assets of different population groups are increasingly drifting apart - especially in old age. Political policy analysis and measures are necessary to alleviate economic inequality in society: This quintessence is already emerging in the run-up to the international conference "The Economics of Ageing and Inequality" at the University of Hohenheim.
The international expert workshop, organized by the universities of Harvard, Stanford, Hohenheim, Fudan and the Swiss World Demographic and Ageing Forum, will take place on 4 and 5 May 2018 in Stuttgart, Germany.
Senior Research Scholar Alexia Fürnkranz-Prskawetz is invited keynote speaker at this event. Her presentation is entitled "National Transfer Accounts (NTA): structure, diversity and inequality in the economic life cycle" and will take place on 5 May, 11.30AM-12.30PM during session 4 on ageing and health inequality. For many years, Fürnkranz-Prskawetz has been working in the field of the economics of population and individual ageing, long run economic growth, agent based models and environmental economics. She has published numerous articles in refereed scientific journals and edited special issues of economic and demographic journals. At IIASA she works on models of the interrelationship between population, the economy and environment.
She holds a doctorate in mathematical economics from the Vienna University of Technology, as well as a second doctorate (Habilitation) in population economics and applied econometrics from the same University. She is professor at the Institute for Mathematical Methods in Economics at the Vienna University of Technology, deputy director at the Vienna Institute of Demography at the Austrian Academy of Sciences and director of research training at the Wittgenstein Centre for Demography and Global Human Capital.
