Plants

1. Further Develop the NE work and integrate in Future Earth

During 2014 PSI will take a further look at climate change mitigation options with the help of NETs. A major task will be to place the MagNET initiative under the Future Earth umbrella by developing it into a high-level GCP initiative.

2. Link tropical activities of the Program to the renewable energy component

Bio- and other renewable energy will be an essential part of IIASA’s Tropical Flagship Initiative, for which PSI will set up a relevant modeling cluster.

3. Stakeholder component development for recharge.green

Results from the recharge.green project will be adapted to stakeholder requirements and ultimately feed into a decision support system under the Alpine Space project assembly.

4. Bewhere development toward a policy-relevant DSS tool in the wider area of renewable energy

The logistics section of BEWHERE will be expanded for future project involvements at EU-level and beyond, and its applicability broadened so that it is a valuable tool for decision and policy makers at various levels.

5. Developing further certification components and other demand-side measures

PSI will contribute to this field by concentrating on research on future development options for certification of sustainable forest products.

6. Promoting the ESM integrated assessment tool box

PSI will "translate" important findings of IIASA-ESM research into policy-relevant language to help promote ESM’s integrated assessment tool box of global biophysical and economic models.
