Anthony Patt leads the Decisions and Governance research group in the program on Risk, Policy, and Vulnerability at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA). The group’s research is on the effectiveness of policies at addressing risks and uncertainties in the area of climate change, considering both the restructuring of energy systems and adapting to climate impacts and vulnerabilities. They apply a wide range of methods to study these problems, including statistical data analysis, stakeholder survey and discussion, field experiments, and quantitative modeling. Dr. Patt is a senior editor of the journals Regional Environmental Change and Climate & Development, and an editorial board member of Global Environmental Change. For the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Fifth Assessment Report, he is a Review Editor in Working Group II, and a Lead Author in Working Group III. Prior to coming to IIASA in 2006 he was a research fellow and lecturer at Harvard University, where he completed his PhD in Public Policy, and then a faculty member in the Department of Geography and Environment at Boston University and a Visiting Professor at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research.
