Pablo Suarez is a researcher on climate and disasters, focusing on the use of information for reducing vulnerability. He is associate director of programs for the Red Cross/Red Crescent Climate Centre, and an advisor for Oxfam America. Pablo has consulted for UNEP, the GEF, the World Bank, the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) in Germany and other international organizations, working in more than 30 countries. He is a visiting scholar at Boston University Department of Geography and a guest scholar at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA). Pablo has a degree in water and civil engineering, a masters in planning, and a Ph.D. in Geography. His current work addresses community-level adaptation to climate change, institutional integration across disciplines and geographic scales, and the use of innovative communicat ion tools for awareness, advocacy and capacity building.
