Work on carbon accounting for the Ukrainian forest is based on methodology developed by ESM. The results of the project on Geoinformation technologies, spatio-temporal approaches and full carbon account for improving accuracy of GHG inventories (GESAPU) were presented in a book jointly published by IIASA and National University of Live and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine [1].

Within GESAPU, ESM hosted 41 person-months of visits by Ukrainian scientists during 2010-2014. Four Ukrainian collaborators, former IIASA participants in IIASA’s Young Scientists Summer Program (YSSP), received an award by decree of the Ukrainian President for achievements in science.

The work on a full verified carbon account was finished and published in 2014 (click on image to enlarge).
