Advances were made in 2013 by the Advanced Systems Analysis (ASA) Program in stochastic downscaling, identifying structural changes in time series of socio-ecological transitions, and analyzing “big data" sets.

These analyses will contribute insights into a range of modeling tasks, for instance, enhancing IIASA's in- house GLOBIOM modeling framework, used primarily by Ecosystems Services and Management (ESM) as well as providing historical lessons on the ramifications of future possible sustainability transitions.
