Florian Sorger-Domenigg joined the Water Security Research Group of the IIASA Biodiversity and Natural Resources Program as a researcher in February 2022. He is currently working on the sustainable water quality management project supporting Uganda's development ambitions. His main tasks are the development and application of a multi-scale water quality modeling framework for Uganda with the aim of linking water quality issues to the pollution sources, critical source areas, and underlying drivers.
Sorger-Domenigg obtained his graduate degree in July 2020, jointly from the University of Life Sciences Vienna, Austria, Egerton University Kenya, and the IHE Institute Delft in The Netherlands. The program "Limnology and Wetland Management" focused on the investigation, monitoring, and management of freshwater ecosystems in temperate and tropical climates.
He conducted his master's thesis research on the hydromorphology of the Gumara River, a tributary to Lake Tanana in Ethiopia. This research put an emphasis on the investigation of physical landscape processes and applications of this hydromorphological approach for integrated river basin management.
He had previously obtained his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering and Water Management at the University of Life Sciences Vienna, Austria.
