Kirsten Virginia Glenn works as a Capacity Development Coordinator in the IIASA Capacity Development and Training Unit. As part of her work, she manages the annual Young Scientists Summer Program (YSSP) and other capacity-building programs. Previously, she worked as a program officer for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). At the IAEA, her portfolio encompassed projects in the areas of decommissioning and environmental remediation, expanding nuclear power program infrastructure, small modular reactors and micro-reactors, as well as human health. While working for the International Resource Panel at UNEP, she managed projects in remanufacturing, sustainable cities, mineral resource governance, transition to a resource efficient economy, and sustainable finance.
She holds a master's degree in Environmental Technology and International Affairs, a bachelor's degree in Nutrition Science, and is Prince 2 certified (Foundation and Practitioner). She has strong coordination, research, communication, and negotiation skills gained through her work experience in multi-cultural settings. She has a global, open-minded outlook acquired during her time living abroad.
