Albert Nkwasa is a post-doctoral researcher in the Water Security Research Group of the IIASA Biodiversity and Natural Resources Program. His primary research interests and work center around the integrated modeling and mapping of the quality of freshwater ecosystems at regional and global scales within the complexities of global change, including climate change, land-use and land cover change, socioeconomic dynamics, and policy shifts. His work extends to impact attribution of changes in hydrological and water quality variables.
Nkwasa holds a PhD in Engineering Sciences (2023) from Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Belgium with greatest distinction and felicitations of the jury. His contributions to advancing knowledge in water quality-related domains, in particular water pollution in Africa, were recognized in 2022 when he was honored with the prestigious Ernest Dubois Prize, presented by the Koning Boudewijnstichting.
