Virtual event at the World Meteorological Organization
Underpinning that the GAW Programme is the collaboration of more than 100 countries, it is important that the balance in geographic representation in GAW activities is achieved. It is also important to achieve diversity of those who participate in GAW activities and in the governance of the GAW programme. Amongst other factors, diversity includes representation of different gender, ethnicity, regions and career stages.
The panel includes six panel members representing different World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) regions. The panel members will share their stories and will describe any challenges they may have observed linked to gender, ethnicity or geographic location. The panel will address the following questions:
1) Do you think that female scientists are equally represented at different levels in the environment related research? What efforts are required to reach the balanced representation?
2) How can we ensure that there is an interest in the atmospheric composition research in the countries with a different economic development state?
3) How can open and diversity appreciative environment be created in GAW groups and in community at large?
