Global Energy Assessment: Full report now available

GEA – the first global and interdisciplinary assessment of energy challenges and solutions – identifies 41 pathways to provide sustainable energy for the world by 2050. These changes would not just have an impact on climate change: The study also found that alternative energy solutions would lead to multiple benefits for health and the environment, including improving access to energy in developing countries, improving energy security at regional levels, reducing air pollution, ocean acidification, and more.

The assessment was an international effort of leading scientists and energy analysts worldwide. Over 300 researchers contributed to the report.  A full list of authors and reviewers is available on the GEA Web site. 

GEA was formally launched at the RIO+20 Conference by UNIDO Director-General Kandeh Yumkella. The book is currently available for purchase from Cambridge University Press. In October the full report will be available for download on the GEA Web site: www.globalenergyassessment.org.
