Workshop on Systems Tools and Regional Development

IIASA hosts the workshop on Systems Tools and Regional Development, where the intermediate results of the project were dedicated to the development and analysis of policy actions responding to external economic and social shocks and stresses at a regional level.

Leena Ilmola, Elena Rovenskaya, Viktoria Veshchinskaya and Nikita Strelkovskiy presented the methodology and assumptions, shock and stress scenarios under study and the two developed computer-based tools implementing models of regional socio-economic mid- and long-term development. Representatives of focal Finnish regions, Joensuu and Oulu, as well as the Ministry of Employment and Economy attended and gave their comments. Finnish partners positively evaluated the intermediate results in terms of their applicability for the real decision-making and suggested to include several region-specific aspects in the models.
