World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2014

Wolfgang Lutz will share his views on immigration, impact of global warming on population, and global human capital

Under the thematic focus "The Reshaping of the World: Consequences for Society, Politics and Business" the 2014 Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum will be held in Davos, Switzerland. As an international organization for public-private partnership, the World Economic Forum will bring together specialists from industry, government and civil society to discuss trends, drivers and opportunities of global political, economic, social and technological changes.

A shift from a focus on crisis towards a strategically driven agenda within the international community, and the development of insights, initiatives and actions necessary to respond to current and emerging challenges will be the main goal of this meeting.

IIASA World Population Program Leader Wolfgang Lutz was invited to speak in three sessions during the forum:

The Impact of a Warmer World
Lutz will lead a discussion together with other prominent leaders from the scientific community and business world on how the warmer world would reshape the environment, societies and economies.

Open Forum: Immigration – Welcome or Not?
Lutz will join the panel chaired by the former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan to facilitate an open debate on issues of immigration. This session is open to reporting press and will be live streamed.
