The Project Steering Committee of the ISWEL project will meet between 17-18th of April 2018 to discuss with IIASA researchers the progress achieved by month 18 and the way forward towards the completion of its first phase (expected by November 2019). This will be a crucial meeting since the phase I of ISWEL is now halfway through its lifetime, and significant progress has been accomplished in both, the global and the basin components.

The Project Steering Committee is composed of five distinguished members including:

Dr. Leena Srivastava, Vice-chancellor at TERI School of Advanced Studies, and member of the IPCC

Dr. Youba Sokona, Co-chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change-IPCC

Prof. Dr. David Grey, Visiting Professor at the School of Geography and the Environment from Oxford University

Ms. Astrid Hillers, Program Manager at the Global Environment Facility

Mr. Robert Novak, Industrial Development Officer, Department of Energy, UNIDO

ISWEL is led by the partnership between IIASA, the Global Environment Facility (GEF), and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). The main goal of ISWEL is to assess cost-effective solutions to meet future water, energy and lands demands under a number of different socioeconomic and hydro-climatic pathways. While ISWEL takes a global approach, it also zooms into two transboundary basins facing important development and environmental challenges: Indus and the Zambezi.
