Sustainable development and the coastal regions

Wolfgang Lutz was invited to give a keynote at the Herrenhausen Symposium which is themed around the Sustainable Development Goals and the role of research with a focus on coastal regions.

Organized by the Volkswagen Foundation, the Herrenhausen Symposium provides a platform for researchers and policy makers to discuss future challenges for coastal regions including urbanization, population growth, resource conflicts, pollution, sea level rise, increase of water temperature, extreme storm and flood events, and to reflect the role of scientists. 

At the center of discussion at this symposium are the role of research in tackling the Sustainable Development Goals with a focus on coastal regions, identifying topics for further research, and discussions on funding measures to support this research.

As an expert on human capital and climate change adaption, World Population Program Director Wolfgang Lutz was invited to give a keynote in Session 4: Population growth as a non-topic in the SDG's - What are the implications?, on Tuesday 8 December 2015 at 6PM.

The Herrenhausen Symposium "Sustainable Development Goals and the Role of Research: A Focus on Coastal Regions" will be held on December 8 and 9, 2015, at Herrenhausen Palace, Hanover.
