SEFIRA FP7 debate at the European Parliament and Final Symposium

A SEFIRA lunch debate on air quality will be held at the European Parliament on 19 April followed on 20 April by the Final Symposium "Air quality policies of the future: individual responses and societal challenges".

With the project slowly coming to its completion, a lunch debate on air quality will take place at the European Parliament on Tuesday, 19th April. IIASA is one of the partners of this transdisciplinary project which aims at contributing to the review of air quality policies and legislation, by pointing out the strengths and weaknesses of the air quality process, from EU Directives to national and regional implementation. Markus Amann, Program Director of the Air Quality and Greenhouse Gases Program, is an invited speaker at the debate.

On 20th April the final project symposium "Air quality policies of the future: individual responses and societal challenges" will also take place in Brussels. SEFIRA has coordinated some of the best scientific and socio-economic resources and has reviewed air quality policies and legislation at the interface between environmental, economic and social sciences in order to achieve a deeper understanding of these complex issues. The main fields involved in the action were atmospheric sciences, environmental and legal sociology, anthropology, geography and economics.
