CAPES, the Brazilian Federal Agency for Support and Evaluation of Graduate Education, is a Brazilian federal government agency that was created under the Ministry of Education, responsible for quality assurance in undergraduate and postgraduate institutions in Brazil, additionally, CAPES is the National Member Organization representing Brazil on the IIASA Governing Council.
The Getulio Vargas Foundation (Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV)), was founded in 1944 and is a world-renowned center for quality education dedicated to promoting Brazil’s economic and social development. With eight schools, two research institutes, technical assistance projects and a publishing unit, FGV is ranked one of the top think tanks and top higher education institutions in the world.
The National Academy of Sciences (NAS) is a private, non-profit society of distinguished scholars. Established by an Act of Congress, signed by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863, the NAS is charged with providing independent, objective advice to the nation on matters related to science and technology. Scientists are elected by their peers to membership in the NAS for outstanding contributions to research.
